Election of School Committee.
WAIOTAHI SCHOOL DISTKICT.
We continue our report of the proceed* ings at the meeting yesterday after-
noon:— ■■• ;■■■>■', • ; \'\ '<: ":" The poll closed at fire o'clock, and on the rotes being counted by the scrutineers, it was found that the following gentlemen had been elected: —Messrs Mcllhone, 139; Howe, 100; Davies, 88; Comes, 88; Patterson, 63; Eawdon, 53; and Lawlor, 35.
Mr Mcllhone briefly returned thanks for the honor done him by placing him at the head of the poll. He had expected to be on the Committee, but not to get in by such a majority. Mr Bowe said he would do his utmost to further the interests of the district. He referred to the benefit to the rising generation which would accrue from the establishment of a School of Mines here, and said he would strive to have one established. 1
After Messrs Comes and Bawdon had thanked those present for the honor done them, a vote of thanks was accorded to the chairman, scrutineers; and secretary, and the meeting dispersed.
