WAITEKAURI.
The manager's weekly report ia as follows:—Waitekauri, Feb. 28th, 1878. —To Directors Waitekauri G.M.Co.— Gentlemen, —In forwarding you the weekly report on your mine, battery, Ac, I may state for your information that the stone treated at the latter had been derived from blocks Nc. 2 and 4,- and from the Golden Point portion of the winze. Owing to the exceedingly broken character of the country, sloping in No. 3 had to be discontinued during the past week and the ground secured: it will however be again renewed in a day. or two. At the battery I am sorry to say the crushing has been very poor, there having been 210 tons of quartz put through for a yield for 112 ounoes of amalgam. I expect to be able to get better atone next week,!
Owing to one of the wire ropes on a section of the tramway having been broken the battery was standing yesterday, but started again this morning. Crushing for the Young New Zealand G.M.Co. commenced to-day with 4 head of stainpi.—I have, &c, E. M. Cobbett.
