There were three distances in the competition, riz., 200, ■ 400 and 500 yards, fire shots at each, with the usual Government regulation targets. Oat of 61 who entered on the previous evening, 60 competed. In the morning squad there were 27, and in the afternoon 33. Tie wind kept up the whota of the day, which told considerably against the shooting, particularly at the longer distance. The winner of the Belt on this occasion was Sergt. G. W. McLeod, of the T.8.V., took the second place with a score of 50, being only one point below the champion, Sergt. Clark. Lieut. Gavin, of the gallant Blue Jackets, made the possible at the first range, and making 38 out of a possible 40 at the 200 and 400 jards, but unluckily his first shot at the 500 fell short of the target, which left him only third highest, with a score of 49.
