I know Mr Whitaker 'a Reduction Wo.'ks, and I would not lease it at any price.. I consider it is not worth more than, £600 or £660. By Mr Dean—l don't know if a proper man was in charge that it would not pay. I do not say that it was because Mr Masters was incompetent that the affair was a failure. The unoccupied ground would not bo worth more than £1 per week for storages. - - By Mr Macdoald—l: would be glad to let the building for 10s per week. James Craig, sworn, deposed—l am an auctioneer aid rahier. I know the Keduction Works. I would riot gire 2Qs per week fpr the whole affair, and consider the freehold not to be worth more than £400.^ ...

Tookey is inserted whereas there is neither occupier nor owner ; tiiat the New Zealand Insurance Company is en-titl-d through its manager to hare its name inserted therein, and that the value is less than stated.- . James Craig, valuer, deposed that the battery was worth a merely nominal sum; It would take £600 to make it fit to work. William Bowe deposed that he had inspected the battery and considered it was less than worthless. Everything was completely rotten. Edward Honiss, agent for the N.Z. Insuranco Company, deposed—That the battery was a mere wreck. The cottages were both let for fo per week, and the smithy was a mere shell. The hotel had 16 rooms in it, bit it was unfit to live in, and required a new root. It would not let. Andrew Fleming deposed that he was one of the valuers of the Borough of Thames, end had inspected the Tramway battery before valuing it. They bad valued it at 10s per week per stamper. Name altered from D. Tcokey to G. P. Pierce, and battery reduced to £100. The other valuations to be confirmed. B. Jeffrey, house md allotment, Brown street, £9. Appellant apptird to hare his name inserted instead of that of 8. Dickey. Application granted. A. Johnston, allotments Mackay street, £29; v-lue less'than staled. No appearance of appellant; appeal not sustained. G. Osborne, alloin-ent and hcise, Bichmond street, £28; not the occupier. E. G. Brown's name was inserted instead.

Value less than stated. Mr Brasisj appeared for the objector, who stated that only one of the shops was let, and it fetched 5s per week ; none of the othevs had been let for some time time.
