RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT
THIS DAY. (Before J. Kilgour and H. Goldsmith, Esqs., J's.P.) LABCENT. James Donnelly was charged with stealing from Punga Fiat, three fowls, ralue Bs, the property of Michael, Driscoll. Mr Brassey appeared for the defendant, who pleaded not guilty. Mr Brassey applied for an adjournment till Saturday, as he had only been retained during the last 10 minutes, and consequently had not had time to look into the case. Mr Bullen said that he would raise no objection whatever. .Remanded till Saturday, bail being allowed, himself in one surety of £10, and one other surety of a similar amount. NEGLECTING TO KEEP A LIGHT BUBNING. John McDermott was charged with unlawfully failing ts keep a light burning over a hole in Albert street on the night of the 26th. inst. Defendant pleaded guilty, and said in explanation that ho had put a light orer the hole. The night was a fine one, and las there was a bank of earth on,one side and pipes on the other no one cou'd have tumbled in if they had not wanted. • Fined the mitigated penalty of 10s and costs. Court adjourned.
