Connection having been made with the winze good air is now obtainable through all the workings, and the fan can be dispensed with. The contractors are now employed timbering up the rise and making all ready before work is started on the lodes. This work will probably be finished this .week, and the legitimate operations on the leaders recently cut with such good prospects will be commenced. Mr Chapman, the managing director who has carried the operations of the company ao far to a successful issue, has resigned the charge of the mine, and Mr John Goldswortby has been appointed mine manager. The appointment is considered a judicious one, as Mr Golds worthy is well acquainted with the mine. The directors nare acknowledged the indebtedness of the company to Mr Chapman, and passed a vote of
thanks to him, expressing regret at his resigning the active management of the mine..
