The country in the north cross-cut from the shaft continues pretty hard, and the water has decreased considerably in volume. The reef in No. 8 level is low grade stuff, and though occasionally stones with gold in them are obtained, the reef generally does not contain much of the precious metal, and will not pay to crusli as a whole. Towards the Queen of Beauty boundary the lode should become more consolidated, and may then be expected to yield better. Yesterday the directors made a second call of Is per share.
