For a quarter of a mile Chokebore and Trump Card raced neck and neck, but Trump drew gradually but surely ahead, aud won by a length easily. Time—2mins 56secs.

About 1500 people were present. The weather fine, but no interest shown as in previous years.

Tlie Maiden Plate was won by Mufti by half a length. Pinefirc, second; Tallyrand nowhere. Only three started.

Wellington Jockey Club Handicap —Tilania, 1 ; Songster, 2. A very close race.

This day, 1 p.m.

The Hurdle Handicap was a capital raco between To Whetu and Shark. All the horses jumped splendidly, but Te Whetu had the best place. At the second hurdle Grey Momus fell, throwing McIvor, his rider, who seems badly hurt j he got up and mounted immediately, but no sooner was he on than he fell off quite helpless. At the finish Shark ran Te Whetu very close, flogging hard, but Te Whetu won by two lengths, Shark 2, Victor 3.
