; The attendance is 'meagre; weather cold; cloudy, with sprinkling showers. The Governor arrived at 12.20, but there are not half a dozen people in the grand stand. This is partly owing to the high charges to the lawn, staud and paddock. Strong and'general dissatisfaction-is ex* pressed.
Hukdle Bace—Grey Momus, Victor, Shark, and Te Whetumarania started. Victor took the lead with a bad start, Momus second, Shark and Te *Whetu last. The first hurdle wa3 cleared in fine style, Momus baulked at the second. Victor was first past the grand stand.with a.strong lead. At the sixth hurdle Shark baulked, Grey Momus fell, and, after picking himself up, baulked at the seventh hurdle..,, -Victor's lpng lead and cleau jumping gave her an easy race, Te iWlietu second, Shark _third^.JXoiriusnowhere. There are rktheir mote, book: makers than anyone else on the lawn.
