PORT CHALMERS.

Saturday;

A seaman, of the barque Angus Frederick, has been the victim of a murderous attack by a Japanese cook, who threw the man's dog overboard. Words and blows ensued, and, the Japanese getting worsted, he seized a meat chopper and inflicted a dreadful blow on Simon Neilson's head, fracturing the skull. A second tailor was also cut across the arm by the Japanese, who was arrested by Sergeant Hanlon. Dr. O'Donoghue attended Neil son, and found his skull fractured, and ordered his removal to the Dunedin Hospital.
