This day.

Mr Sutton addressed a crowded meeting of electors of the Napier district. The Theatre Uoyal was crammed. Capt. Rußsell was unable to be present through illness. Mr Sutton was questioned at great length after the close of his address. The meeting was rery liyely. To a motion of a rote of thanks and confidence nu amendment was mored, " That thanks be accorded, but the meeting declines to express its confidence." The amendment was declared lost, but there was a large number of hands held up for it, and many thought it was carried. When the the original motion was put it was carried by a large majority.
