The Harbor Board Nomination.

The Dominations for the Thames Harbor Board were made at the Borough Council Chambers afc 12 o'clock to-day. There were about 40 electors present, and at 12 o'clock exactly His Worship the Mayor, acting as Returning Officer, read the notification fixing the days of nomination and election. With reference to the latter he said he had considered it belter to have left it to the electors to decide which, day the poll should be held on. He then read a number of clauses ftom the Thames Harbor Board Act concerning the formulas of nomination, etc. He said that he had a list of persons entitled to rote, but if there were electors whose names were not on the list, desirous of voling they could do so on satisfying him that they were qualified to rote. If any agent, pnying rates for another, wished to rote, ho could do so

on proving that the principal was willing, and that he did not intend to exorcise his electoral powers himself. Mr Butt suggested that Tuesday would be the best day for polling, if n poll was necessary. If any other gentleman in the crowd thought another day would be better, let them say so. Mr Miller thought that Tuesday would be a very good day, and this was unanimously assented to by those present. Mr Douglas nominated Captain John Butt. In doing so he snid that Captain Butt had been a life time acquiring knowledge necessary for the position, and he would raako a good member if elected. Seconded by Mr Oaborne. i Mr D. Miller nominated Mr W. Dayies. This was seconded by Mr Oaborne. Mr McGowan nominated Mr J. M. Mcnnio. Seconded by Mr Cocks. Mr J. Marshall nominated Mr Alfred Price. Seconded by Mr Vealo. A show of hands was then taken with the following result:—Mr Butt, 15 ; Mr Davies, 17; Mr Mennie, 5; Mr Price, 13.

Mr Mennie demanded a poll, and the .Returning Officer declared that a poll would take place on Tuesday the 22nd inst. from the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The meeting then dispersed.
