A Gazetlo issued this evening contains notifications that Sir George Grey has resigned the appointment of Commissioner of Customs, and that Mr Ballance has been appointed Commissioner of Customs and Minister for Education. It is stated by the Argus that several other changes are about to take place in the Ministry. As regards the distribution of portfolios, Mr Ballance is to become Colonial Treasurer in tho place of Mr Lamach, who will remain in the Ministry as Minister for Public Works. Further changes than these are not anticipated before next session.

To-night's Post says : " "We are informed that a* a result of an inrestigation

into tho working of the railways it has been fouud possible to dispense with the services of about forty clerks in that department alone."
