QUEEN OF THE MAY.

In driving on the footwall loader from the bottom of No. 2 winze (about 20 feet below the floor of the No. 6 level), the manager haa obtained about 121bs of f;olden stone, ioine of which are at the cgal manager's office, and are good specimens. The drive is in about 14 feet from the bottom of the winze, and overhead there is a gocd golden block to stope out. There are a few tons of valuable general stuff broken out ready to crush. The lode averages from eight inches to a foot in thickness, and has an exceedingly healthy, and promising.appearance. Underhand stopipg at a distance of about 2CD feet from No. 2 winie is also being carried on, and gold is visible in the stone. The water is slowly sinking in the shaft, and I do not think that it will be very long before the manager will be able, to resume the more legitimate operations of working from the new level. The success which had attended the resuming of

operations has inspired the shareholders with confidence, and there is no doubt but that if linio is allowed them, the directors will soon put the company on its feet again. Sooner than let such a valuable property go to the wall for want of v little rendy money, it would be advisable to make another cull on lla- shareholders.
