The Sunday Observance League last night passed a resolution strongly condemnatory of the Government in calling on men employed on the railways and wharves of Christchurch and Lyttelton to work on Sunday when required.
The man named Dunny, who was gored by a bull ou December 27th, died yesterday.
Wednesday. The Lyttelton Segatta was a great success.

At a private meeting of capitalists yesterday it was resolved to form a joint Stock Company, with a capital of a hundred thousand pounds, in twenty thousand shares of £o each, to construct a branch line of railway from South Kakaia on the Great Southern railway to" Ashburton, the forks passing through a very fine agricultural country.
The Land sales for the month realised £41,452.
