3\lr T. B. Hicks, since he assumed the management of the mine, had had all em* ployed blocking out crushing stuff at the floor of No. 6 level, in several places. The lode has a healthy appearance, especially near the junction with the cross-leader. As yut, however, but a limited supply of stuff is in tbe hoppers, m fact, not much more than would keep the mill going for a day or two. The battery will not start until there is enough quartz to keep it going for a fortnight at the least, and as understoping is comparatively a slow operation it will be silent for some days yet.
