At four o'clock yesterday afternoon the tenders for driving the two .drives —one north and the other south—at the 640 feet level of the shaft were opened, and Willets and party were the successful tenderers for the north drive, qnd Walan and party for the south drt^Thera will soon be quite a number of works proceeding at the bottom of the shaft, as besides the works in operation for the Euranui Hill and the two contracts let yesterday, the Imperial Crown is now calling for tenders for the construction of another contract.
