, Russians Crossed the Danube. Bombardment of Kars. Turks to Retire from the Dotou&scha. Wellington, this day. The Government have received the following :— London, June 25, 4.45. The Russians crossed the Danube at Galatz, and hold Matcliin with a slight loss. They were cordially received by the Christian inhabitants. Kars holds out. The Russians were repulsed in the last attack with great loss. The Emperor is with the troops at Ployesti. The Montenegrins are still resisting, although defeated after killing seven thousand Turks. , Gortschakoff assures Earl Derby that the Suez Canal is to be respected as international. Constantinople is not to be occupied by Russia or other European power, if conquered, but to be a free city, and any future occupation by any European power to be subsequently arranged.
