MET AND PARTED.
A letter from Charlotte, Michigan, to the Detroit Tribuno, tells this story of a romantic affair that ended in a way not I customary in the books : " A number of years ago a husband and wife by the name of Guy came to this country from England, and settled on a piece of land between this place and Grand Lodge. Previous to their marriage the lady had been admired by another, wli >m she rejected. He waa afterwards irarried, and lived with his wife until about a year and a-balf ago, when he was left a widower. He then came to America in search of the one whom he first loved, and, after spending considerable time and money, his efforts were recently crowned with success, and the two stood face to face. Mrs Guy has been a widow for nearly three years. He made known to her his mission, but, finding her old and. wrinkled, instead of the handsome girl she used to be, as he had pictured in his mind, his desire to marry her abated, and they both expressed themselves as satisfied to live alone. On the 29th ult. he embarked for his cative country. . . ~~.
