CALEDONIAN.
To-day the driving contractors completed their contract, and the manager is calling for tenders for continuing the drive towards the Old Golden Calf boundary until such time as the rise is connected with the drive. There are yet about 30 feet to put up and when this |s completed the manager intends to open the reef, stripped. To-day some very promising • looking stone was obtained from the rise-, but whether it contained gold or not it is difficult to say ; Lowever, there was a coppery looking mineral
in the stc:: which is generally taken j\s an indication of gold.
