Monday. The damage done to the export shed at Ly ttleton is estimated at £10,000. The origin is unknown. The fire would have been nothing had there been a good fire engine on the ground. All the books and papers are saved. In addition to the above particulars, we learn that the Government loss is from £3,000 to £4,000. The insurances areStandard, £1,000; New Zealand, a small amount; South British, nil. Sailed : The Cabarfeidh, for Auckland, yesterday. Mr Davis, engineer of the Piako, yesterday fell between the wharf and the ship's side into the water. He was rescued much exhausted, and died about an hour afterwards.
