MOANATAIRI.

Messrs Stove, Wardrop, and Clark, directors of the mine, arrived from Auckland yesterday, and paid a visit to the mine at a late hour last night. They appeared highly pleased with their inspection. The result of it, as far as can be ascertained, is that it has been decided not to stope out the rich blocks between the drive from the winze, and the 80 feet level, and between the bottom of the winze and the drive. It has also been decided that the system of sending daily telegrams to the head office be stopped, and no telegrams Bent unless there be anything of importance to communicate. It has now become an established fact that the " soft country " in the winze is the slide as cut in the drive from the winze. At present the reef standing in the winze is being taken out, and put through the single stamper. Yesterday about two tons was broken out, and though perhaps very little of it was rich enough to be designated specimens,, yet most of it showed gold pretty freely. As soon as all the quartz is removed the sinking of the winze will be resumed on the top of the slide, and will be continued to a point where it can be cut by the extension of the 150 feet level, if the course of the slide permit of it. Of course, if the slide lies flat this will not be possible. The construction of the chamber is now completed, and the flat-sheets, &c, are all laid down. Driving wi'l be started this afternoon or to-morrow.
