Soviet of Sacred Song.

A Service of Sacred Song will be given in the Ac demy of Music .this evening in aid of the fands of the Grahamstown Wes^yan Sunday School, commencirg at 8 o'clock. The service to be givo is entitled "The Creation," and comprises over twenty hymns and chants, with connective readings from the Holy Scriptures, compiled by the Rev. <J. Wilkins, of Brighton. The musical portion of the service will be rendered by the Grahamstown Wesleyan Sunday School, assisted by a number of friends, and the readings will be given by the Key. B. Laishley. The compiler states that in carrying out his ide^., "he has sought (in the Creation) to produce a work not above the reach of well trained Sunday scholars, nor below the tastes and talents of organised choirs; and he trusts that in some measure this object has been attained." The music is well chosen, embracing some old and well known sacred melodies, and we understand that from the practice that has been given to the work by the performers they may be expected to acquit themselves creditably. The Thames Scottish Band will|llay on the balcony of the Academy before the service commences.
