PIAKO.

To-day another of those accidents to the machinery, which appear to be pretty frequent, over at' the Fiako mine, occurred, but to-day's breakage is an exception to tLe general rule, rs it is not connected with any part of the pumping machinery. The crank shaft of the winding engine, which was- cracked, has broke, and winding has been stopped, and it is probable that before it is put right some little delay may take place. Tenders up to yesterday were received for sinking the Bird-m-Hand shaft, and one tender was accepted, and work is to be proceeded with forthwith. When down the depth required-it is intended to use it for filling in purposes. A block of stone 821 bs in weight was raised from the Fiako this morning, which showed good splats of gold. ' .':
