MONATAIRI.

I visited the mine to-day, and on going down into the winze found that as the ground is rather weak timbering has been started. In the drive on the reef there is a very good show, and this morning some 4|cwt of specimens were obtained leaving a good show. The footwall section of the reef, which is all good crushing dh'i, has not yet been broken down, and consequently it is impossible yet to tell the ezact size of the lode. The gold is showing-in? good: large splats, but there does not appear to be much change sir. ;o yesterday. The show on the fiobr is guile as goo.l as hr the face, and in some places the gold appears very nearly solid in the stone. The sinking of sbaft, well-hole a^d all, will be completed tbfs ever-n^, apd after the placitg of the boitom timbers, guides, etc., will probab'e be so far completed as to permit of a sfcart being made at the construction of the chamber early next week. .There is nothing of any importarice:to report from any other part of the mine. Thelnger.-, ■soil's patent rock drill, which the company' have recently imported from San Francisco, has arrived here, and Will shortly be employed in the extension of the long tunnel. The following is a copy of to-day's telegram :—", 4-|cwt specimens from . new winze. Splendid show of gold in face and floor.—Hoe r. Oomee."
