The New Zealand Government has received a telegram from the Home Government granting permission to Sir W. JYrvois and Colonel Scratchley to visit New Zealand to report on the Harbor defences. These officers may therefore shortly be expected at Wellington. In reference to complaints re nonpayment of General Government subsidies to Road Boards, Counties and Boroughs in the provincial district of Auckland, it appears thai 119 Road Boards, 12 bounties and 2 Boroughs have been paid. Thevs remain to be paid in the said districi itenßoad Boards and five Counties. The reasons for nonpayment in the five Counties, Hobson County, Matakoe and Okahu Road Boards have not furnished complete returns. Rodney and Matakana Road Board ditto; Waitemata, Tauranga and south Waitakerei Road Board ditto ; Eden and Parnell Road Board ditto; Manukau and Papatoitoi Road Board ditto. The reason for the non-payment j of the Road Boards at Ahipara, Hikurangi and Manurewa is they kave not forwarded the names of their bankers. Titirangi, Okahu, Matakohe, South Waitakerei and Parnell have not sent the names of their bankers, nor the value of the rateable property. East Matakua and Papatoitoi have not forwarded the value of the rateable property.
