AUCKLAND.

This day. The Davenports were successfully tied last night. On entering the cabinet for the light seance the Mayor and Mr Hesketh were appointed a committee, aud tied both brothers with a torn fool's knot. The brothers objected that they were too tightly tied. Dr Hooper was called on the stage, and he said that the tying was not too hard ; he could put his finger between the rope and the skin. The Davenports insisted upon being unloosed amid the howlings of the audience. Professor Fay offered to go into the cabinet and let the same gentlemen tie him, but the audience would not hear of it, and demanded that the Davenports should confess themselves beaten and apologise. The Davenport Brothers retired from the stage amid howl?, and the light seance was abandoned. Mr Fay afterwards gave a dark seance on the stage, with the same committee with great success. Mr Dayies was also well received, and at the ck f Messrs Fay and Davies received a una? %-

mous vote of thanks. The knot wh' fixed the brothers is a double noose, ret' £ between the hands like handcuffs. Messrs Pay and Davies to-day announce their withdrawal from the Davenport Brothers, and travel on their own account. They go to the Thames to-morrow.

The Augusta, from Mji, with maize, encountered heavy weather. The maintopmast, sails and wheel were carried away.
