Laird and party whq have been the successful contractors for No. 1 and 2 drives from the north-west cross-cut at the 640 feet level of the Pumping Asso* " ciatiou shaft, started work yesterday. - Catran and party, tributers, whose block comprises the All Nations section, *"^ are at present employed cleaning up old workings, etc., and making ready for blocking, out quartz. Formerly this party has been very successfal, and it is expected that their tribute will soon give au account of itself by figuring in the gold returns.
