MOANATAIRI.

I paid a visit to the mine this'morning, and was shown through the workings by Mr Andrews, underground boss. On going down the winze I found that about seven feet of the hanging wall side of the reef stripped has been broken down, and was informed that; that had been done during the night shift last evening. The show all along the reef was very good, there being large splats of gold both fine and coarse, some being the size of a man's hand, scattered all through the stone. On the floor at about 4 feet from the face, there is some splendid stone visible, and from what could be seen of it, it appeared to be half gold. The lode now has all the characteristics of the run in the level above, the quartz, mineral, and gold all being ■ similar in appearance. If this is the run, and" there is .little doubt but that it is, it has dipped about 18 feet in a westerly direction, directly from the place where it was last seen in the floor of the 80 feet level. There is no change to report from any other parts of. the mine. The following is a copy of the telepram sent by Mr Comer to the directors at Auckland to-day, i —" 3cwt specimens new winze. Good show of gold in face and floor of drive. I think the old shot of gold is coming in.-—E-obt. Comeb." George and party, and Kneebone and party, the company's tributers, are at present crushing.
