The Bright Smile will put through 10 tons of stuff during the week. At the Hospital-meeting for the annual election of members of committee, the old members were re-elected, and Captain Thomas, Messrs Woodward and Evan Frazer were added to the number in place of those'resigned. Major Keddell, President; s Mr Woollams, VicePresident: Mr Harrison, Secretary. The annual 'report, Surgeon's report, and balance-sheet were adopted,, and a vote of thanks to the members and secretary and surgeon passed. At a meeting of the Committee previously held applications for the situation of surgeon to the Hospital were received from Drs Buhner and Peard of Akaroa. The ap. plication of Dr Peard waa accepted.
A heavy slip on the tramway occurred during the week, preventing the,transport of quartz to the battery. ; The course pursued towards the doctor by the Hospital Committee is considered harsh, and it is doubtful if public opinion will endorse it.
