The news from the seat of war to«day is important. ;The Kussiani have crosied the Danube and entered the .Dobrudscha —the delta formed by the mouths -of the Danube—described as a famous battle ground, in which some of the earliest incidents of the war of 1854—1856 took place. The, former accounts which emanated froni Turkish sources, reporting that the Russians had lost heavily in the fighting near Batoum, are oontradicted, and the Russians claim that their loss was trifling while that of the Turks was "enormous." These conflicting accounts detract from the value of the news very considerably, especially under present circumstances, receiving the news in daily driblets.
