CALEDONIAN.

Last night while the contractors were driving along the hanging wall side of the .No. 2 or Otago lode a parcel of stone showing gold wasvobtained. It appears that they fired a shot which accidentally knocked down about lOlbs of stone, which on examination was found to contain a pretty fair show of gold, in fact some of the pieces were good enough to tank- as picked stone. No more stone than that shaken down has been broken from the reef, and the show is a fair one. It is not very probable the parcel was a mere isolated "patch, and it is to be hoped that something good may come of it.
