QUEEN OF THE MAY.
Eetorting for this mine waa completed on Saturday at Ball's - mill, and the first - rate yield of 3820zs was the result of a fortnight's crushing with 13 head of stampers, daring which time about 150 tons were crushed. The quartz from the foot-wall lode has yielded very well, but it is impossible to say what is the proportionate value of the quartz treated. The manager intends to send a trial parcel from the hanging-wall section, and will then be able to tell the value of that part of the reef. Sinking of the shaft for another level will shortly be fairly under weigh, now that the penthouse is erected. The gold was melted at the Bank of New Zealand to-day, and reduced to 3780zs 17dwts gold. This result, we understand, will give a dividend of 2s per share.
