CURE.

Some days ago, a favorable notice of this mine appeared in these columns, and a second visit paid this morning confirms my opinion that the aspect of affairs has very much improved of late. The winze ontheNo.6 reef is how down 40 feet from the; No.l or 21Qjfeet level of the Caledonian shaft, and there' is about 30 feet yet to sink before the Wo. 2 level is reached. Sinking has beer temporal..y suspended, and two drives—the one nortq and the other southr-are being put in from, the bottom following the course,of the ipide. The reaspn of this is, : .that iii the No. 1 level two small cross-leader? were-cut, one of which, it.may be remembered, yielded at the irate" of about 5o r s to the.ton! The other lode, which lies to this north of the former, also shows gold, and neither of them ever was as rich when they were last cut, which appears to prove that they get richer going down. From the present course of the No. 6 lode the manager is confident that it wiirjunc* tion with each of these cross-leaders, and he is in hopes that there will be something worth taking out. The present ' appearance, of this reef is very promising, the stone resembles that being:.takes from the Moanatairi No. 9 reef,' being thickly impregnated with mineral, and that of the sort that is generally taken as a criterion that gold is near at hand. The only other work at present proceeding for the company is the extension of the drive on the No. 4 reefy Some stone, of a very high grade is being broken but,; and good of gold are occasionally seen. The reef is of good size, and has greatly.improved since driving was commenced. There is now a fair parcel of stuff on hand, and the manager expects to be able to crush early next week, and as the parcels from the two reefs will be crushed separately, a correct esti mate of their value can then be formed.

McLean and party and Johns and party are at present crushing with prospects of good payable yields, . and McKenzie and party and a new batch, Dfankervis and party, will, in all probability be crushing early next week at the Kuranui or Bull's.
