TIMARU.
Monday. A long heavy sea arose this afternoon, with a S.W. wind. All the vessels in the roadstead put to sea, .as. several were dragging their anchors. The Herald of this morning states that the Governors of the Australian colonies have received instructions from the Secretary of State as to' their conduct in the case of Great. Britain being involved in the war. They are directed to resist any attack as far as possible ; but if resistance is found impossible, then they are to comply with requisition made by the enemy, the Empire undertaking to repay sums thus levied.
