CURE.
The great improvement which has lately taken place in the prospects of this mine continues, and if things go on as at present the mine may soon occupy its old position as a good gold producer. The manager will be ready to crush in about a fortnight or three weeks, and will then probably have 50 or 60 tons to put through the stampers. The No. 4 or black lode continues to loot well, and gold is seen in it at driving proceeds. The winze on the No. 6 reef is being contimied; and though as yet but little gold has been seen in the stone, the quartz Has the appearance of stuff that should carry gold. Before some of the sections of the mine was let on tribute—that is about three months ago—there were only about half-a-dozen men employed on the whole mine, and now, counting tributers, there are about 60 or 60 at work. Apropos of the tributers it may be said that they all appear to be doing pretty well, and are at least making small wages. McLean and party are crushing at the Xuranui mill, and Johns and party will probably be crushing the end of this or the beginning of next week.
