A fire occurred in Walker street last night, when the Rising Star Hotel, together with Carter's store and Palmer's drapery shop were completely destroyed. The stock and furniture of the Hotel were insured in the Royal for £2 0t; the" building is^ insured .in the JN"orwich .for £300. The store v, as insured for £100 in the Norwich and £100 in the New Zealand office;: The third building was insured for £1C 3 in the Norwich.
. The Government steamer Luna has just been sold (though not yet taken over) to the Bruoner Coal Mining Company for £4000.
A thousand shares in the new Brunner Coal Mining Company have been allotted to Wellington, which is to be made the depot of the company. Eighteen hundred shares are for Greymouth, one thousand for Dunedin, and five hundred for Christchurch.
