WARDEN'S COURT.

THIS DAY.. (Before W. Fraser, Esq., Warden.) H. ac'ILHONE V. F. JACKSON. ' This was a plaint against the defendant for cutting a kauri tree at; Puru on the 24th October last, without having a timber license. The defendant pleaded gailty, but said he thought it was Vaughan's timber he had cut. The mast of his boat had been carried away by a gale and he had used the piece of timber, which was only a 7-inch kauri sapling, to make anew mast with. He intended to tell Mr Vaughan after he had cut it. Fined 20s, and costs £2 12s. Court adjourned.
