Entries for the Dunedin and Port Chalmers regatta closed last night. They promise to be very numerous.
A public meeting, consisting of about 70 persons, was held last night re the Macandrew testimonial. An influential committee was appointed to carry out the object in view. : .
At a committee meeting of the Otago Licensed Victuallers' Association yesterday it was unanimously resolved to appeal against the decision of the Resident Magistrate in the late case of the police against Jenkins as to whether the ordinary mode of payment for the use of a billiard table constitutes gambling.
