General Notices " STAMP ACT,' 1875." TBANSFEHS OF SHARES. "I T is hereby notified, that, after the Ist o 1 January 1876, tha use of Impressed Stamps upon Transfers of Shares is compulsory, but transfers of Bhai-es may be stamped ut.a Stamp Office by the Commissioner or a Deputy Commissioner within one month after execut'on.without a. fine. Managers and Secretaries of Companies, Shnrebrekers, and o'hers interested, are recommended to forward, without delay, such forms of transfer na they may require to be impreesed, accompanied by the usual requisi* ' lion and receipt from the Bank of New Zealend for amount thereof, less the authorised discount. '■ . Information may be obtained at any Stamn ' Office. . . v ■ The provisions of the Act relating hereto are as fellow :— " 47. (1.) Except where express provision is ma 'c to tho contrary, all duties are to be / denoted by impressed stamps only." '1(2. No transfer of any share.or shares of or in tho stock or funds of any coiporation, company, or society whatever in New Zealand shall be registered, recorded, or entered in the ' bo9ks of such corporation,' company, or society, unless such transfer is duly stamped. " 103. No instrument of sale or transfer of any share or shares shall be valid, either at law or in equity, unless the name of the pur. - chaser or transferee is insert«d therein at the - time of or before the execution of the instrument of sale or transfer ; and, if any perron oxecutes a rale-note, tranefer, .contract-not*, or other instrument of sale or transfer, in any manner, or for sny purpose whatsoever, unless the name of the purchaser is inserted therein at the time, or before the execution' thereof, he shall forfeit a Bum of not less than £20 or more than £100; and, if any such instrument is so made or signed, it shall >c wholly and absolutely void and inoperative. " and shall in no case be made available by the insertion of a name or any othei pariictuVtfi afterwards ; and the person selling of' tnnft ferring such share shall not be divested df'Wfc interest therein, but shall remain liable thereon os if he had never sold or disposed ox the same. And if such penou is a lioeaeed aharebroker, his license shall, on.any ooavietion under this aeclion, be ibsoluttjy forfeited, and he shall not thereafter be qualified - tojjct as a broker, or" to have a fresh license issued to him. . No eharebroker, auctioneer, commission agent, or any other person shall be entitled to any brokerage, commission^ or • any other fee or reward in respect <)f the sale or transfer of any such share, unless the instrument of sale or transfer is filled up with all necessary particulars to make it a complete icstrument, and is duly stamped..
