James J. Paiu, clerk of the Waimate Eoad Board, has been arrested for embezzlement of £988 belonging to the Board.
The Mayor has declared a half holiday for each day of the All England Cricket Match.
A reeeting is to be held in the city and suburbs on Thursday next to protest against Mr Carruthers' drainage scheme. The weather very fine for harvesting.
