NELSON.

This day.

Sad accounts continue to come in from the country districts of damage done by the recent -floods ; houses and orchards completely destroyed-*; cattle, sheep and horses swept away. One small farmer lost, the whole of his little flock of 300 sheep. The Motueka district is the greatest sufferer, but a quantity of land was swept away in Waimea by the Waeti river, which has never been known sof high before. The weather is still gloomy, and threatening, but very little rain.
