YAGBANT ACT.

Mary Brown was charged with having no visible lawful means of support at Shortland on January 31st, 1877. Mr Bullen stated that defendant had been arrested last night, and had since been taken ill. The surgeon had seen her and had advised her removal to the hospital. Kemanded to the Hospital for medical treatment.

"WANDEBING HOUSES. John Adams was charged with unlawfully allowing two horses to wander at large in Grey street, Parawai, on the ,28th ultimo. Defendant pleaded guilty. Fined 5s and costs. WOBKING A. HORSE IN AN. UNFIT STATE TO WOEK.

Robert "Walker was charged with a breach of Bye-law No. 3, section 42, Borough of Thames, by unlawfully working a horse in an unfit condition to work, on the 28th ultimo.

Mr Cochrane appeared for the defendant, and pleaded guilty. William Baker, sworn, deposed—l am a 'bus proprietor, and know something of horses. I remember the constable drawing my attention to the horse in question. He had been blistered, and I considered that he was unfit for hard running. He had not been doing hard work at all. Nixon Scott, sworn, deposed—l am a constable stationed at Shortknd. I saw the horse that defendant was driving on the day in question. It walked lame, and matter was oozing from cracks in the heel.

Cross-examined by defendant—l have no ill-feeling against you. Fined 5s and costs. Court adjourned.
