OUR VOLUNTEERS.
No. 2 H.E.V.
The monthly inspection of No. 2 H.E.Y., took place at their drill-shed last evening. There was a good muster. After being put through company drill by Captain Paul,, and being proved by ;Lieut. Small, Major Cooper examined arms, and then, on the officers falling in, the company was marched to the Beach Road, where they went through a series of field movements, principally skirmishing, at which the men acquitted themselves very much to the satisfaction of Major Cooper, who, on the return to the hail complimented the men on their steadiness and improvement in drill generally. There was also a good muster of the band, which played one or two quicksteps in.the hall after the parade was over. Captain Paul informed the men that the church parade ordered for to-morrow would be postponed on account of a number of the men wishing to leave to-day for Auckland to. witness the regatta and cricket match. ■..
