General Notices "STAMP ACT, 1875." , TRANSFEKS OF SHARES. 1T is hereby notified, that, after the let o A January 1876, the use of Impressed Stamps upon Transfers of Shares is compulsory, but transfers of shares may be stamped at a Stamp Office by the Commissioner or « Deputy Commissioner within one month after execution without a fine. Managers and Secretaries of Companies, Sharebrekers, and others interested, are recommended to forward, without delay, such forms of transfer as ther may require to be impressed, accompanied by the usual requisi- • tion and receipt irom the Bank of New Zea- • land for amount thereof, less the authorized discount. Except where express provision is mane to the contrary, all duties are to be denoted by impressed stamps only." " 102. No transfer of any share or shares of or in the stock or funds of any coiporation, company, or society whatever in New Zealand shall be registered, recorded, or entered in the books of such corporation, company, or society, unless such transfer is duly stamped. " 103. No instrument of sale or transfer of any share or shares shall be valid, either at law or in equity, unless the name of the purchaser or transferee i» inserted therein at the time of or before the execution of the instrument of sale or transfer ; and, if any person executes a sale-note, transfer, contract-note, or other instrument of sale or transfer, in any manner, or for any purpose whatsoever, un» less the name of the purchaser is inserted therein at the time or before the execution thereof, he shall forfeit a sum of not l«ss th»n £20 or more than £100; and, if any iuch instrument j's so made or signed, it shall be ■wholly and absolutely void and inoperative, and shall in no case be made available by the ' insertion of a name or any other particular! afterwards; and the person eclliag or trans- . fcrring such share shall not be divested of hit , interest therein, but shall remain liable -thereon as if he had never gold or disposed ot the same. And if such person is a liceased sharobroker, his license shall, on any conviction under Ihi» section, b« absolutely forfeited, and be shall not thereafter fee qualified to act as a broker, or to hare a fresh license, issued to him.
