At the Primitive Methodist Conference the following ministerial appointments have, been made :—Auckland, first, Bey. W. Tinsley; Auckland, second, Bey. J. B. Westbrooke. Thames, Eev. J. Nixon. New Plymouth, Eev. Standrin J. Clover. Foxton, Eev. P. W. Jones. Wellington, Eevs. J. Dumbell, A. Jaynes. Christchurch, Eevs. W. Harris Greenvaile, W. S. Potter. Ashburton, Eev. J. Strap. Timaru, Eev. C. E. Ward. Oamaru, one from England. Dunedin, Eev. J. Ward, and one from England. InVercargill, Bey. W. J. Deane.
This day.
A deputation from the Corporation waited upon the Premier to request the Government to hand over the reclaimed land, when the contract is completed, upon certain terms. The Premier replied that it was anticipated when the accounts were made up the Wellington Provincial district would be indebted to the General Government about £40,000, and that it was exceedingly probable, the land would be sold and a purchaser found immediately.
