PUMPING ASSOCIATION.

The usual fortnightly measurements of the different works going on in the shaft took place yesterday, and as was expected the progress was very good. In the north cross-cut the hard country which the contractors were bothered with some weeks ago has almost entirely disappeared. The distance driven was 23 feet, anH the total length of the cross-cut from the shaft was 399 feet. The driving of the south cross-cut has been discontinued. '

The Imperial Crown drive, or, as ifc is generally known, the drive on the reef, has reached the total length of 130 feet from the north cross-cut, of which 13 feet has been driven during the fortnight. This drive is now running alongside the reef, and not on the reef, as has hitherto been the case.
