CALEDONIAN.
The drive towards the Otago has at last been connected with the Otago shaft. No change is perceptible in the reef. In consequence of want of water for the boilers the engine has been obliged to stop, but Mr James, the manager-, ha* followed the example of the Kuranui Hill United and has made arrangements to have the Government water supply laid on. At present the water for the reservoir is obtained from the domestic water supply and as might be expected in consequence of, the dryness of the weather there is not sufficient pressure to raise it up the hill.
