CURE.
Driving in the cross-cut towards the Mary Ann portion of the Company's ground, has disclosed a lode not hitherto worked by any of the neighbouring mines, so far as can be ascertained at present. .The distance from the No. 5 lode on the level is 162 feet, arid shows a well defined lode, of from 3 to 3 feet 6 inches wide. The reef has just been cut through, and, without seeing gold, has all the other indications of a payable reef. The quartz has been saved till it can more fully be opened out; the contractors continuing the drive straight .ahead. In the low level (No. 2 Caledonian shaft) a cross-cut is being driven in upon the foot-wall leader, and men are engaged in rising, upon No. 5 reef. On the foot-wall side the quartz is improving in quality. The monthly cleaning up at the battery will take place this evening, and will be comparatively, small, owing to the small amount of tonnage which has been passed through the mill.
