CALEDONIAN.

Operations in this mine are now confined to breaking out from the leader near No. 3 shaft, driving on the crosslode on No. 1 level, and stoping No. 5 or Cure lode, with sinking winze on same lode. The stone in winze is compact and looks well, about 20 inches wide; in the stopes the show of gold is very good, and the reef is from two. to three feet wide. The cross-lode is now being worked by driving on the fodt-wall side, leaving the lode, some five to six feet wide, to be stripped as may be most convenient. A trial lot from this reef has been put through the Prince Alfred mill, and the result so far as can be known, indicates that this large body of stone will be remunerative.
